We got this beautiful bouquet at Chelsea Brooks wedding the night before (Chelsea is the little sister of my friend Rachel Olsen).
I was showing him how to smell the roses
This is just one of the many times he smelled the roses, it is now an obsession

Visit with Santa

Deisen loves Santa (AKA: Tanta) right now. So we thought that sitting on his lap would be a delight for him. We were wrong, very wrong. However, after we both sat with him, Deisen felt comfortable enough to give Santa bones.

He did enjoy watching him from a distance and saying "ho, ho, ho!"

And he, and Opa, got some cool reindeer antlers as a souvenir (which we were lucky he put on for this picture). I love this picture!!!

Fun with Oma & Opa, inlcuding Deisen's first haircut!

First hair cut. It started out pretty rough. He didn't want to sit by himself or wear the cape, but once we just gave up on the cape, took his shirt off and had him sit on daddy's lap, all went well!

He kept leaning forward, it was really cute
fruit snacks also helped get us through
He had an inch and a half cut off and mom and dad love that it's curling up again! :)
Christmas stickers were a hit, and still are!
Putting the stickers on with Opa

Deisen's present from Orlando. He loved the puppy and straw! He sticks his tongue out, pants and saw ruff ruff

Orlando 2010

Jeffrey and I went to Orlando a couple of weeks ago all by ourselves! My parents came to Bama and watched the kiddo, it was wonderful :) We went to Sea World (since I'm 6 months pregnant all rides were out of the question) both during the day and for their Christmas night show.

Hung out with Leah and Cotton while Jeffrey was in his class (yes, this was a business/pleasure trip).

About Deisen

We got a new camera and Deisen got a hold of our old camera, where he continually said "cheeee" as he tried to take your picture.
I thought I'd document cute things/words Deisen's doing/saying right now. It's more for my keepsake since I'm not very good at keeping a journal or scrapbook.

Words:
Signs more and says "pea" for please
"ishy" for fishy
"baba" for bottle
"ba" for ball
"bubu" for bubbles
"ean up" for clean up (we sing the clean up song and he sings right along with us)
"Mommy, Daddy, Nonnie, Paw Paw" "Ma" for Oma and "Pa" for Opa
"baby" but he says it really quiet and rubs my belly, Jeffrey's belly or his knee
"ni" for nice
"nanny" for nasty (Jeffrey found him playing in the toilet last week and said "ew, Deisen that's nasty" this is now his new favorite word)
"nandy" for candy
"choo choo" for train
"perpee" for Percy, Thomas' best friend for those who are not up on Thomas the Train
"neene" for green, which is the color of Percy
"ippy" for sippy
"nack" for snack
Every other color out there is considered "boooo" which is blue
"emi-ee" for Emily, Thomas' other friend
"eeeans" for jeans
he loves saying the letters b, d, and e
Animal Sounds:
Deisen can moo, meow (really he just does a high pitched scream), ruff, neigh, quack, blub-blub is the sound of a fish, clicking his tongue up and down is a penguin does (he's trying to waddle, waddle)

Funny stories/things he enjoys doing:
Deisen has really gotten into reading books. For awhile I couldn't get him to sit still. Right now his favorite books are his Thomas books, It's Bedtime Wibbley Pig, animal books, and his new Santa book that makes noise and has googly eyes.
He loves doing puzzles and making the animal sounds. He also enjoys praise, in the form of clapping, every time he puts a piece in the right spot.
He's really not all that into coloring. But he does enjoy dumping all of his crayons on the ground so he can sing the clean up song (he says "ean up, ean up, ean up, etc...).
He loves watching football with his Paw Paw. In fact, that is what he calls the football "Paw Paw"
He loves to bang on the piano and play the electric drum set.
He has also been enjoying swinging his toys around, hitting things with his toys (including his parents) and throwing his toys.
He loves to sing the Barney song, blow kisses and give hugs
Over Thanksgiving we were at Jeffrey's parents house and Deisen walked into the room holding his sippy, grabbed a coaster, set it down on the table and put his sippy on the coaster. The kid's learning how Nonnie likes things ;)
He can spend a good 15 minutes taking the lid on and off a pen.

He's crazy about dancing and music. Loves it! That is what I here from his nursery teachers all the time. He get's in the center of the circle and spins/rocks around.
He enjoys bouncing, stomping and running around the house.
The other day he grabbed one of my paint brushes and held it out for an explanation. I told him it was a paint brush. Well, all he heard was brush, so naturally, he started brushing his hair with it.
Deisen is on his way to potty training. The kid is obsessed with going "pee pee on the potty." He points to his privates and says "pee pee, pee pee" all day long. Many times throughout the day, he will run to the bathroom, lift the lid up and want to sit on the toilet. He then lifts his shirt all the way up, so he can pull down his pants. I help him take his pants off, remove his diaper, help him on the toilet and he just sits there looking at himself. We then get down, put everything back on, flush the toilet (which had no pee in it) and wash our hands. He is also just always wanting to wash his hands.
Today he saw me rubbing lotion on my arm, so he pretended he had lotion and was rubbing it on his arm too (which was covered by his shirt).
On Sunday the choir sang a song and when they were finished Deisen, with lots and lots of enthusiasm, said "yeah, yeah" and clapped his hands very loudly. It was dead silent except for his applause/approval and the laughter surrounding where we were sitting.
He also enjoys making the arm movements like the music conductor.

OK that works for today. I am sure my future self will be pleased that I did this :)

From fall to Christmas

Happy Thanksgiving!

Loves to wash his hands

TRAINS!!!

Deisen has been obsessed with trains. Jeffrey and I found out that the North Alabama Railroad Museum has train rides periodically throughout the year. A couple of Saturdays ago we went to check it out. We decided against the ride but watch other trains go by, waved to the kids/parents as they left the station, and hung out around stationed trains. Let's just say Jeffrey and I would have received the "Best Parents Ever" award if Deisen could have given it to us. We also enjoyed watching his eyes light up with such excitement :)
